Could be Chai, could be Cinnamon Schnapps! Very Sweet, all kinds of Warm, and a little bit Spicy!
What’s in this teapot, anyway?
Angie Hickman
Nurtured in the tree-enrobed hills of Southern Indiana, Angie grew up in the jewelry business but dreamed of a career with words. Prior to discovering narration, she enjoyed an eclectic range of jobs such as cashiering at a lumber yard, helping customers find the perfect titles in a bookstore, billing the naughty souls that damaged books for a university library, substitute teaching, being a mom, and restringing pearls.
Angie has lent her quirky and empathetic style to over 200 audiobooks. Her purpose is to fully connect with the emotions of the characters and the message of the author, bringing bubbly energy or heartfelt feeling to her performances, as best serves each piece. She specializes in Cozy Mysteries and Romantic Comedies but loves narrating Young Adult and Sweet Romance books, too. She also delights in narrating Spicier Romance and some New Adult titles under a pseudonym.
When she’s not in the booth, you may find Angie tackling the taller-than-she weeds in her garden, cooking whole-foods plant-based meals, sewing clothing, or indulging in a myriad of other needle arts. At the county fair, her crochet projects have won Reserve Grand Champion (second place in all of Needle Arts) two years in a row!
A proud member of SAG-AFTRA.
She put in hours at both a jewelry store and a lumberyard (concurrently) to work her way through college. There aren't as many wardrobe differences as you might think.
When she was 10 her family moved to a house with no bathroom. They did have an outhouse, though! She'll tell you, at 2am in February when it's 8 degrees F, you can have very long debates with yourself about how badly you need to go.
Her babysitter was a granny who thought there were "certain things young ladies should know how to do." The housekeeping lessons never did take, alas . . . but the embroidery and crochet and sewing lessons have become lifelong avocations, and she's built on those to add knitting and rugmaking to the mix.
Speaking of avocations, She's slooooowly trying to turn her postage-stamp-sized backyard into a permaculture garden, complete with a mini food forest.
She likes to cook the results into delicious Whole-Foods, Plant-based (a healthy type of Vegan) meals.
She was an only child until the age of 12. Her "baby" brother is one of the best people ever.
Her sophomore year of high school she developed a crush on this boy. She chased him for a year and a half before he was old enough his parents let him date. They dated almost 5 years before getting married. They're still married "mumble-mumble" years later and you know what? She still has a crush on that boy. Guess that's a definition of Romance, right there.
Cats.
That's all, just cats.
(Though she loves dogs and bunnies and all those, too. She just shares her house with cats . . . and could watch the big ones at the sanctuary sleeping for hours . . . and so on . . .)
